Biography “Season
of Love” is Jeff Meegan’s debut album although he is no stranger to
the music industry. He has been creating music for television and film
projects for a number of years and can be heard regularly on such daytime
favorites as
“One Life
to Live”, “The Young and the Restless”, and “All My Children”. An accomplished singer/songwriter, Jeff has written for prime time
programming including “CSI”, “Everyone Hates Chris” and numerous
DVD releases. A fan of all
types of music, Jeff
is comfortable writing and performing pop, rock, and country but is
especially partial to jazz in the style of the great crooners. It
comes as no surprise that “Season of Love”,
co-written and produced with Emmy award winning Brad
Hatfield, is
sprinkled with a dash of each.
Brad
Hatfield and Jeff had worked on many television projects, before they met
face to face at the Daytime Emmy Awards in the Spring of 2005. After writing several individual Holiday songs together for various
television projects, Jeff asked Brad to help write and produce an entire
Christmas Album. Drawn to
classic jazz and standards, their common interests lead to “Season of
Love”. “Working with Brad is
great. He is so good at what
he does. He would send over these beautiful tracks and I would write
lyrics and melodies over them. “We compliment each other well since we see eye to eye and hear a lot
of the same things. This makes for a very easy and fun working
relationship.”
A
native Chicagoan, Jeff’s interest in music began at an early age. His
parent’s met and married after attending DePaul University’s College
of Music. Not surprisingly, music was part of the fabric in the Meegan
household. At age seven, he began studying piano and drums. By the age of
15,s he had his first 4-track recorder and has been writing songs ever
since. Today he is a dynamic performer, experienced producer and veteran
studio vocalist.
In
creating “Season of Love”, Jeff has said of the journey, “All it
took was a decision to make it. It was an interesting process, writing 12 songs and trying to
create an overall tempo of an album – not just a particular song but how
the collection of music fits together. I like the fact that it sounds and feels so classic yet it’s
contemporary and fresh.”
From the imagery of “Bring Them Home”, which chronicles a wish for peace to “Christmas Tree” with its Samba feel, “Season of Love” is rich with surprises. “The Bells”, inspired by Jeff’s daughters, is a favorite not only for the subject matter but because he produced it himself. Other
personal favorites include “Together on New Year’s Eve” for it’s
dynamic vocal performance and “Christmas Time is Here” where the
trademark standard style is never more present. Of
the album, Jeff is most proud of the work as a collection.
“Season of Love” offers a refreshing selection of new Christmas music and is soon to become a Christmas classic. |
